Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess
Boss Guide

Twilit Parasite DIABABA — Forest Temple

Two Flowers. Boko Baba like creatures will emerge from the sludgy water. There will be Bomb spiders all around. It should be self explanatory what to do. Use the gale boomerang to grab a bomb. When it comes back, point the boomerang at one of the creatures, and let it sail. It will hit the creature, and it will sink. Do the same to the other.

Now a giant one will appear, with the two flowers you just destroyed. All the bomb spiders will disappear. Now, the monkey from earlier will swing by with a bomb. Use the boomerang to get the bomb from him. Destroy the two smaller plants, and now aim for the giant one. Wait until the bomb gets to the point just before it explodes, and let it fly. It will hit the creature; it will fall and leave its tongue/eye exposed. Slash like crazy, and repeat the process. It will occasionally spew acid, so watch out for that.

Twilit Igniter PYRUS — Goron Mines

A cut scene will show a giant black form, steadily breathing. He notices you, and a gem on this forehead glows bright. Flames erupt from him, and he rips from his chains. Now for the battle. As you might have first thought, shoot him on the forehead where all the light is coming from. He will freak out, and start walking around gripping his face. Run along side him, and grab one of the chains he dragging around. Equip the Iron Boots, and pull back. You will trip him, he will fall down, and lay there long enough for you to get around him, and slash at his face. Repeat the process to accomplish this mission.
Twilit Aquatic MORPHEEL — Lakebed Temple
Quite the easy boss, if you keep your distance. First form is a multitude of tentacles, pick the eye from them and slash away. Two rounds and Morpheel will emerge in its true form. In this one, unequip the Iron Boots and swim above it. Use the Claw to grab its eye (with a Z targeting) and latch onto it’s back. Slash away and a few rounds later you will be one heart Container richer!
Twilit Fossil STALLORD — Arbiter's Grounds
Possibly the coolest Zelda boss fight ever awaits you. Step forward in human form to awaken the Stallord. Once the cut scene ends, hop on the Spinner and start circumventing the room on the rail. When behind Stallord, jump off the rail and attack his spine a flashing jump on the Spinner. Three rounds of that is all he can take and the boss collapses. Sand drains for the room, revealing a slot for the Spinner. Rev it up and the pillar you stand on raises and the Stallord revives.

This next part is great fun; you travel around the room, jumping from the central pillar to the outer walls, avoiding the fireballs Stallord’s head shoots at you. After a few dodges, you can strike the boss’ head with the Spinner, dropping it to the ground. Run up and slash away. Rinse and repeat two more times and the fight is won!

Twilit Ice Mass BLIZZETA — Snowpeak Ruins
This boss is also quite annoying. Once the snow-monster's wife takes you to their bedroom to collect the mirror shard, she becomes entranced by its beauty and decides she wants to keep it for herself. So she gets turned into a monster snowball. Hit her with your ball and chain as she glides around until she gets cut down to her normal size. Then she'll surround herself in an ice diamond, which is surrounded by smaller, uninhabited ice diamonds. She'll start floating around above you; run. She'll periodically drop those smaller ice diamonds in whatever path you choose to run.

Once they're all down, you'll have a split second to destroy a few with your ball and chain; then they'll float back up and form a circle that comes crashing down around you, trapping you inside. Run through the whole you created in that split second to try to escape Blizzeta's own attack, where she comes crashing down in the center of the circle. If you manage to get out of the way, you'll have a chance to hit her with your ball and chain and destroy part of her diamond thing. Once you've repeated this and cut it down to about halfway, if you're too slow she'll give up on the diamond dropping routine and instead decide to come down to the ground and form a huge circle of freezies around herself. Simply stand in front of one of the freezies and toss your ball and chain; make sure you're close enough to get the freezie AND Blizzeta. Once you've completely destroyed her diamond thing, the boss fight will end. She'll be hurt, but turned back to normal when the mirror shard floats out of her and down to you.

Twilit Arachnid ARMOGOHMA — Temple of Time
Gohma all over again, people. Here's the skinny on this boss fight, since Jack did go into it but lacked significant detail. First, Armogohma (Gohma for short) will be crawling around on the ceiling. Eventually she'll (it is a she, right?) stop and open her big red eye. Shoot that thing with your trusty bow and arrow before she attacks you with her laser beam, which hurts. If you miss, just run around and avoid the beam; if it gets close, move off to the side and it should start to circle, so you can just stay in the center and be safe. Hit the eye, though, and Gohma will fall right next to a huge, armed statue. Take control of whichever statue it may be and whack her by pressing B.

She'll get right back up and crawl up the wall, don't even try attacking her. However, now that she's back up there, she'll be laying a bunch of those annoying larva things. At this point, I hated life. So take care of these things ASAP, since you can't aim with them swarming around you. Gohma may decide to shoot her laser while you're fighting the stupid things, so just run as you usually would and watch as her poor aim kills some of her babies for you. Finish the annoying things off and you'll have another shot at... shooting the eye. Repeat three times and you'll knock Gohma down for good, shattering her armor.

Still, the eye survives -and turns out to be another spider- along with another group of those larva things. Here's what I did to end the fight quickly: the smaller Gohma pretty much just runs from you, so another few shots from the bow (three I'm pretty sure) and the fight will be done for good. The larvae will disappear as well, so don't worry. Anyways, collect your mirror shard and your heart container and be on your way!

Twilit Dragon ARGOROK — City in the Sky
To start, immediately don your Boots for this first round. The Dragon will swoop past you (sometime scraping the ground ala Helmaroc King) and the objective it to latch onto his tail while wearing the Boots. You’ll drag the Dragon to the ground and bits of his armor will fall off. Two more bouts of that and the second round will begin.

Rains will begin to pour and several Peahats will sprout and take flight above the four pillars. The trick now is to climb the pillars (Claw-shot between them) and start swinging around the ring of Peahats. When the Dragon is watching you, stop for a moment to draw its attention. When it screams, begin swinging around the Peahats to avoid the fire breath it launches. Swinging to the part of the ring behind the Dragon, and from there Claw onto the gem on the Dragon’s back. Once attached to the beasts, slash vigorously. Two more rounds of that and the battle is won. Collect your Heart Container and leave the City in the Sky.

Usurper King ZANT — Palace of Twilight
This is a humorous fight to say the least. The fight is split into six parts, each taking place at a certain location with the first five being dependent on using an item obtained in that location.
  1. Forest Temple – Use the Boomerang to pull Zant to you and give him a good whack or four. Three rounds and we move on.
  2. Goron Mines – Zant will comically jump up and down on this large platform, which will attemptedly knock you off. Instead, equip the Boots to stay put. When Zant takes a breather, close in for the kill.
  3. Lakebed Temple – Equip the Iron Boots and Zora Armor (to stay put and not drown, respectively). A large Zant head will appear and the mouth will open. Use the Claw-shot to pull Zant from the helmet’s maw and knock him around. The second round will have you choose his location from two Zant heads. After round two we move on.
  4. Forest Temple (again) – A repeat of the baboon fight, except much funnier, with Zant hopping around like the deranged monkey. Use the same tactics (roll into the pole twice to knock him off) and use the quality time he’s spending upside down to get your licks in.
  5. Snowpeak Ruins – use the Ball and Chain to hit his foot when he drops from the ceiling. He’ll hop around on the other foot and slowly shrink. Quickly close in and knock him around. A few rounds and it’s on to the last round.
  6. Hyrule Castle – Dodge Zant’s knives (be he chopping or spinning) and land in your strikes when he dizzies from spinning around. After a few rounds he’ll be done for good.
King of Evil GANON — Hyrule Castle
Phase 1 – Ganon's Puppet, Zelda

This first phase is reminiscent of the first Ganondorf phase from Ocarina of Time. Keep a safe distance from "Zelda" while waiting for "her" to summon an energy ball. She’ll throw it and you should quickly bat it back with a vertical chop. Back and forth you’ll go, and eventually her grip will slip and the energy ball will hit her. Other attacks she’ll pull are to form a massive Triforce on the floor. If you see that, run off of it, because shortly it will burn with electricity and you’ll get hurt. Her third attack possibility is to charge at you with her sword in hand. After three hits from the energy attack, Midna will drive Ganondorf from Zelda and Phase 2 will begin.

Phase 2 – Dark Beast, Ganon

This is a fun round, sort of. The first round or two of this involve following the portals that Ganon can possibly charge out of until one turns blue. When it does, Ganon will quickly run out from it, and you must shoot him in the face with an arrow. Quickly run to his side, and he’ll trip and slide across the floor. Run up to his stomach (where he still bears the wound from being stabbed by the Sages’ light sword) and slash away. Keep in mind sometimes, Ganon will run out of the portal, but them jump to the ceiling and possibly jump onto you, so watch for shadows if he does jump away. Nevertheless, after one more round of that, Ganon will wise up and stop charging human Link head on, instead just jumping and dropping on him.

So, per Midna’s suggestion, switch to Wolf Link form. Wait for Ganon to exit the portal (he’ll charge if you’re in Wolf form) and grab his horns with the A button (and hold—just like Goat wrangling) and then quickly move the joystick from left to right to toss Ganon on his side. Run up to his wound and chomp away. Three more rounds of that or so and it’s on to a sweet cut scene and Phase 3.

Phase 3 – Horse Chase

This is pretty tricky if you’re not good with horse riding. The objective is to follow Ganondorf on horseback, keeping pace with boosts and giving Zelda enough time to fire a light arrow at him. If Ganondorf is hit by an arrow, he’ll slow down, and drop his defenses, let’s you get a hit in. Be careful, as he’ll summon a ghost cavalry contingent to shoot past you, and if one makes content you’ll be thrown from Epona and have to catch up to Ganondorf again. After four hits or so it’ll be time for Phase 4.

Phase 4 – Dark Lord, Ganondorf

I’m just going to say this now: this is the best Zelda boss fight ever. Savor it, because you’re really not in any mortal danger. Ganondorf only does half a heart’s worth of damage with most attacks, and you’re surrounded by skulls on the ground with two fairies tucked away in each.

Ganondorf’s a masterful swordsman, and is not easily hit. The trick is, much like with the Iron Knuckles, to let him make the first move, and use the exposure he leaves himself in with each sword swipe to circle behind him and land a few strikes. It’ll take a while, but as long as you don’t make the mistake of jump striking him (however, a good combo is to jump strike, roll from his counter, jump strike again, and roll again, because by then he’ll leave a huge hole in his defenses) you’ll eventually win. Once he’s taken enough licks, a strong enough attack will knock him to the ground and give you the chance to land an Ending Blow.
